More and more hospitals are choosing (forcing you?) to switch to an electronic trauma flow sheet. This has been happening for at least 10 years, and the number of trauma programs that have been truly successful can be counted on one hand. Truly.
I have visited more than 100 US trauma centers using one of these products. It has caused so many problems and increased the amount of trauma registry and PI nurse support that I created this series.
My goal is not to be a naysayer. I recognize that technology inexorably marches on. Unfortunately, the current technology is not yet up to par for fast-paced trauma resuscitations.
This series is dedicated to providing helpful information if your hospital is considering or has actually adopted such a system. I have republished it over the years, adding updates where needed.
Enjoy, and please send an email to me if you have any comments, questions, or addenda!
